Bill McRight

The art of Bill McRight is really dark, beautifully detailed and somehow completely charming.

A few of my favorite things, podcasts...

As most people who know me can attest, I am addicted to podcasts. My top 3 would be Radiolab, Stuff You Should Know, and Planet Money. Podcasts are a great way to get free entertainment and even learn something. Don't be ashamed, join me and get your geek on.

Jennifer Davis

I am totally smitten with the art of Minneapolis-based artist Jennifer Davis. You can purchase her latest work right now on Tiny Showcase.

Bliss Lau Jewelry

I love the simple and yet inspirational body jewelry by Bliss Lau. You can purchase it online at her shop or at Bong Drag.

A few of my favorite things, music..

So I've decided to expand on the things I love beyond design in a new series of posts I'll call "A few of my favorite things". Music is a big one for most people, if you're not a music lover I probably won't ever understand you. One of my favorite bands Arcade Fire just came out with a new album, "The Suburbs". It does not disappoint. What's almost more exciting than their new album is a project they did for youtube and VEVO, a live show at Madison Square Garden directed by the brilliant Terry Gilliam. It is a must see.

Just Kids

Last Sunday I bought the book Just Kids by Patti Smith about her life with Robert Mapplethorpe. The book is beautifully written, an honest voice by an amazing artist. It gave me the strength to take on the path that I'm laying out before myself. Read it for yourself. It might do the same for you.

New People in Japantown

Yesterday Frank and I went to Japantown to go see Inception (we both loved it). While there we checked out New People, a shopping center dedicated to the overwhelming cuteness and strangeness that permeates Japanese culture. If you get a chance, go check it out yourself. If you can't come to see it you can buy some of the wears online.
