The Date Farmers current show at New Image Art is closing in just over a week. Make sure to check it out before it closes on January 10th.
Scott Kennedy has a new print available on Tiny Showcase. This piece seems to fit into a theme of what I am finding myself attracted to lately. Something more earth driven and tribal. Maybe the economy has something to do with it (I'm preparing myself to go back to basics).

Audrey Kawasaki's beautiful, sexy and eerie paintings on wood panels hold a special place in my heart. The combination of natural elements combined with the subject gives her work a warm comfort that is rarely found especially in most "erotic" art. Above are a few examples of her more tame pieces.

Choegal is the first full scale toy designed by David Choe. Featuring wooden mechanical parts, each doll has been painstakingly crafted to David Choe's specification and complex art style. Each doll has a multi-face feature, just turn the knob on top of her hat to reveal three different facial expressions - happy, sad, and angry. That means, each doll has THREE facial expressions! The arms are articulated with spring joints for multiple poses. No plastic parts have been used in the toy or packaging for an environment friendly product. Produced by Ningyoushi in association with Upper Playground.

Tonight sees the opening of Gallery Arcane. The space features over 50 artist work all priced at $200 and below. An artist I've previously featured from my home town, Chicken Billy, will have a piece available. Check it out.

Printed Matter 4 at GRSF, December 13, 2008-January 14, 2009

As I've previously mentioned, I spent several of my formative years in suburban Detroit. Many of those years were spent wondering the grounds of Cranbrook Academy & Art School. Cranbrook is an oddity. The campus houses lower, middle and upper schools that educate children from kindergarten to high school. The Cranbrook Academy of Art is an historical art college that is known as the cradle of American modernism. Outstanding artists, architects and designers – the Saarinens, Ray and Charles Eames, Florence Knoll, Jack Lenor Larsen, Donald Lipski, Duane Hanson and Hani Rashid, to name only a few - have been a part of Cranbrook’s community of artists.

This Saturday Daniel Martin Diaz's new solo show opens at Billy Shire Fine Arts.
