Favorite Etsy artists

Seasprayblue is a fantastic favorite of mine based out of Dresden, Germany. Her work is available on etsy here: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5202715
My favorite blog ever is sweet-juniper.com. For those unlucky few of you that haven't read about this fantastic family for seen Jim's amazing photographs http://www.flickr.com/photos/sweetjuniper/, go check it out right now! I mean it.
Jim would never consider himself an artist or photographer, but luckily for me he at least has his photos available on Etsy. Here's his shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=12202

Matte Stephens will round out this list (at least for now). Matte's art speaks to the mid-century modern style I love. Check out his work on his website: http://www.matteart.net/matte_stephens.html
And purchase prints and originals at his etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5063179

San Francisco’s Transbay Terminal gets the green light

The Transbay Joint Powers Authority just approved a stunning green design for the new Transbay Transit Center to be constructed in downtown SF. Planned by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, the project consists of a graceful glass tower paired with an elegantly sweeping transit center topped with a five-and-a-half acre public park.

Molo Soft Housing

Molo is a design firm based out of Toronto, Canada. They came to my attention with their sectional set "soft seating" using paper and/or textiles in an accordion that can be shaped multiple ways to offer many seating options. Molo specializes in design that creates space. With this in mind they came up with a new project called "soft housing".
From their site, "softhousing (molo concept) seeks an innovative solution to homelessness. It consists of several expandable single occupancy rooms to be located within the shells of existing buildings. The first instance of softhousing, the First Step Softhouse, was conceived for installation in a former lodging house on the Bowery in New York City. When not in use, the rooms can be squeezed back to create an enlarged common area. softhouse is a not-for-profit project under development."

SF IndieFest presents
ANOTHER HOLE IN THE HEAD FILM FESTIVAL
Horror, Sci-Fi, Mayhem and Merriment
June 5-19, 2008 at the Roxie Film Center in San Francisco

SF IndieFest unleashes ghosts, madmen, monsters, and futuristic merriment at the 5th annual Another Hole in the Head Film Festival running June 5-19, 2008 at the Roxie Film Center, 3117 Sixteenth Street, in San Francisco.

If the myriad traumas of daily life in the big city get to be too much, and it seems like only neuron-shattering screams or a trip to an alternate universe will ease your mind, then the Another Hole in the Head Film Festival is just what the mad doctor ordered. Once again Hole Head presents the finest in contemporary horror, horror-comedy, sci-fi and dark fantasy with more than 30 films from America and abroad, all the mayhem that fits on a celluloid print.

First day, Latin Jazz Stamp

After realizing that my personal blog pretty much turned into what I love about art and design, I've decided to create a blog specifically for Art & Design.
This first post is dedicated to a new stamp coming out in September 08 from the new USPS 2008 Commemorative stamp program.
On a personal note I remembered earlier today while chatting with a friend that I had a dream about the new Eames stamp coming out June 17th. This is not something I admit without feeling a sense of the absurd. I heard about the Eames stamp several months ago and haven't thought about it since. Apparently my brain was keeping tabs with out my knowledge, giving me the reminder I needed so I can purchase the stamps as soon as they come out.
