A week of good food

New restaurant Beretta took over the spot where the Last Supper Club used to be.

Universal Cafe on 19th Street in the Mission.

This week started off for me on Sunday night with a lovely dinner with my awesome and handsome man. We hadn't had any QT to speak of lately, so we decided to treat ourselves with a lovely dinner at Universal Cafe. I think it might have even been the first time I've had dinner there (we normally go there for brunch). We got there fairly early and missed out on the crowd which was great since we didn't have reservations. I love this quaint little neighborhood spot. It's right by my house so it's easy but that's not the only reason to go. Our food was spectacular and for the first time in a long time I allowed myself to eat so much I was full to the point of being in pain. It was worth it though.

Last night I met my friends at Revolution Cafe (a favorite place to sit outside and enjoy a beer). We decided to hit up the new restaurant that took over the space where The Last Supper Club once lived. To my surprise Beretta got us seated right away downstairs in their cellar (table for 9 at 8:30 on a Thursday?!). We shared a dried meat plate, chicken liver on toast, and a radicchio, escarole, robiola & pancetta tesa pizza. For dinner Fivel and I shared the lamb Osso Booco and an arugula & fennel salad with shaved parmesan. Top that all off with a great glass of wine and wonderful company. It was a wonderful night not to be missed. Not surprisingly since this is another local favorite in my hood I ran into a few friends there. Good times were had by all.
